What’s My ‘Why’? Fatherhood

September 15, 2012, the day my world changed forever. The day I entered Fatherhood. After Alex was born, he was getting washed and was crying. I started to sing to him in hopes of soothing him. (I sang to him the last trimester in the womb.) It was working. He recognized my voice and reached out and wrapped his little hand around my forefinger. In that moment, I became a father. My priorities and outlook on life changed. I matured; I was now 100% responsible for someone else. I began setting different, larger aspirations for myself and my family.

Nearly five years and two more kids later, I am loving every awesome moment with Alex, Zack, and Madison. I couldn’t imagine my life any different. I am hopeful, if nothing else, I am teaching and leading by example. Work hard but smart and have a reason to do it. Formal college at a young age might not be for you, but never stop learning. Give generously, volunteer selflessly. Treat others the same way you want to be treated.

“You will never be alone. You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father becomes the son.”

Thank you for your time,
